Hi Alberto, Yes it was indeed pay dirt after years of research and mingling with the local fishing community. To find a place with crystal clear water and able to polarise, well no need to wear polarised glasses you can even see them frolicking in the clear water with your naked eyes is as close to New Zealand as you can get except no monstrous fish up to 10lbs. These lenoks is another subspecies only found in these mountain regions. I've been looking for salmonoid species in China. In the Xinjiang Province there are some trout population and Inner Mongolia taimens and lenoks as well. For me, I can't always take holidays or afford one to go to a trout country and fished to my hearts content. So why not make the best of my situation and search for someplace nearer to cure my itchiness.haha. cheers trouty

Hi CY,
Yes it will be great to use a cane rod here and plenty of dry flies. ;D All the fishes caught by me are on dry flies. In an afternoon on a good day you can catch up to 20+ fishes all on dry fly and just a single pattern once you find out what they are feeding on. Out of 10 cast, you can get 5 fishes, a couple of missed strikes and once or twice where your fly drift by and nothing happen due to drag, all on the same spot.

Dear Trouty, You are not good for our health with such beautiful pictures - especially with an "enforced' closed fly season in force in Singapore at the moment.
regards Alberto

Enclosed flyfishing means go flyfishing but don't let the ranger know about it and don't get caught!

Trouty revisits ¡°A River Runs Through It¡± ¨C Montana trip A trip that I have always dream of, to visit and flyfish the state of Montana. Its not very often we get this kind of opportunity to flyfish with a group of friends in ¡°Flyfish country¡±. 6 of us from different parts of the world gather to flyfish and enjoy Montana for a long weekend. Those that travel halfway around the globe decided to stay and fish the entire week around Montana. A brief description of the places we fished, the first 3 days was to be at the BigHorn River in a small town called Fort Smith, no not the Blackfoot River. After this it was just a road trip around Montana. We fished the private Spring Creeks just outside of Yellowstone Park, we fished the Madison River in Yellowstone Park. We visited 2 private lakes, Burn¡¯s Lake and Sitz Ranch to try our luck there as well. Besides the fishing, we get to see the ¡°Big Sky Country¡±, the huge expanse of the sky, the mountains, the rivers, the wild animals. It was breathtaking. There are so many flyshops here that it is just unbelievable. We visited almost everyone of them. Sometimes we will come to a crossroad junction way out in the country and you will find a petrol kiosk, a general store, a takeout place and 2 flyshops! To me this trip is also like paying homage to Norman Maclean for writing such a good novel. First stop, Seattle It¡¯s an 11 hour flight from Shanghai to Vancouver, Upon arriving we took another transit flight of half hour to Seattle. We have 6 hours between us before we board another plane to Billings, Montana. We decided to pay a visit to 2 local flyshops and a outdoor departmental store to get some supplies for the upcoming camp in Yellowstone park. On board the plane for a day and nightSeattleEntering downtownCreekside AnglingKaufmann StreambornREI, outdoor departmental store, everything you need for the outdoors!!End of Seattle tripcheers trouty
