Hi guys,
My past two fly fishing outing has drawn blanks so when my friend asked me to join him for a spot of fishing over at TJ in Bintan was very quickly accepted.
The place we were going to is actually a resort with a fenced in area and fishes are released in for fishing. Its located about one and a half our drive out of the city area.
This place is beautiful and rustic, the amenities clean and functional. At the back of the picture, you'll see two rows of huts on the left and right ... these are the accommodations.
This is the central area when the fishes are released for fishing. There are ample back room for fly fishing ;D
The scenery in the morning...
... and evening will take your breath away. The silence and fresh air will change and charge your batteries up.
The person on my left is John (I'm the bigger one for those who do not know me ). We have been fishing together for over two and half decades. 27 to be exact. We chiong the freshwater payponds in Singapore in the early days, Pulau Aur during the 80s and 90s and then the Malaysia saltwater payponds as well. John will outfish me most of the time and I respect that he will always be the better fisherman than I will be due to his hard work, ingenuity and perserverence.
During the two day we spent there, we caught palm sized Leng Chiams, Ang Cho Kees, Kee fish, Ang Kuays, Groupers and Parrot fish. Quite a few ended up on our lunch and dinner table ;D
The highlight for John must be this beautiful parrot fish...
... and for moi, the grouper ;D
I have come to realise during this trip that fishing kakis are prehasps the most precious and valuable item you can ever possess.
John, thanks for all the years of teaching and companionships.
cheers
Alberto
