Can Singapore be a Fly Fishing Destination? How can we help to make Singapore a Fly Fishing Destination for fly fishermen around the world? What do you think? Can the Singapore Tourist Promotion Board make it happen. With the construction of the Marina Barrage, Singapore is going to have another body of water for fly fishing. Intergrated Resort, shopping, musicals, etc for the wives and children, fly fishing at the reservoirs for the fly fishermen right at the door steps of the hotels.

Well, I for one - certainly hope so ( better still in 3 weeks time ;D - OMG ) At the very least it would removed the 'poaching' label on all the reservoir flyfisho' of S'pore It's a shame that all generally law-abiding citizens of such a fine country be booked for such a trivial misdemeanor for their beloved sport " Jia yu jia yu, Billy Teo " ;D

Fly Fishing for Peacock Bass? Come to our concrete jungle. Fish for this explosive pavon right at the door steps of your hotel, right here in Singapore. No. You don't need to go to the Amazon. One day in the near future. The Singapore Tourist Promotion Board should start promoting Singapore as the Fly Fishing Destination. Just look at this Peacock Bass by alberto. With a bit of help from us, we can be fishing for bigger peacock basses in our Reservoir in the City too.

PUB and NPark always like to educate the public. Now fly fishermen will have to educate PUB and NPark about fly fishing. If they can be educated, then fly fishing will be allowed. Especially if there is some tourist dollars to make, and to put Singapore on the map of fly fishing destinations besides the jungles of the Amazon river. So let us start to educate the PUB and NPark and STPB. And keep our fingers crossed. Bedok reservoir jetty will soon be ready.

Yup.. we should educate them.. also it will be wonderful if we can educate them about what fish to put in the reservoir. If we can put in temensis, toman and other big fish, I think that will be great.. dun forget those cute lampan too!

This is a very interesting topic. While in Singapore on my last trip, I was approached about how to sell the idea of flyfishing to the Singapore government. I was also asked how the fisheries were handled in the US. Most of the fisheries in the US are handled by the individual state governments. There are National regulations, but they are mostly for endangered species (salmon, stealhead etc...). I do not know a lot about the details of how the state agencies are run, but I do have friends and assiciates that do. I have asked them to contact the folks in Singapore so that they can provide input on these matters. I do believe that fly fishing can be a source of revenue for Singapore. I was amazed at how many of my friends that travel to Singapore did not know about your fishery. When I told them about my experiences in Singapore, they were utterly surprised. One thing that is going to help a lot is this web site. It is a good tool for getting the word out about fly fishing Singapore. The fly fishers I met in Singapore are great ambassadors for our sport. They took me out and made sure I felt welcome. Do the same with this web site, and things will fall into place. If I may make a suggestion. You may want to add a section on this site for folks coming to Singapore for a visit to sign up for a little tour of what Singapore has to offer. Knowing the people I do on this site, I am sure some of you would offer a little of your time to be a fly fishing host. If I am off-base with this, I apologise. I would like to have others enjoy fly-fishing in Singapore as much as I did. It really was the difference between a nice trip and a great trip for me. I made some new friends and can only count the days before I get to see them again. Tight lines to all.

Hi folks, The government at the moment is very focused in remaking Singapore in every sense of the word. The Intergrated resorts with the casino component is a clear example of this. My personal opinion is that the reservior in the city may not be the best location to sell fly fishing in our city state. Fly fishing involves nature, the quite surrounding by the edge of the water and some might prefer the solitude of fishing alone. I have never, through all these years of fishing in pay ponds such as those located in Pasir Ris, Punggol and Bishan, gotten use to seeing blocks of HDB flats around me. In the future, if that day would come, it would give me great pleasure to tell visitors that Singapore is a great fly fishing destination. Alberto ;D
