Hello everyone, I am new to Singapore and I am looking for some good saltwater spots to try some fly. I am from Australia and am living here for a year. I am also new to fly fishing, having only been doing it for the last ten months. I got my first Peacock bass this afternoon and it was a blast. I am writting to ask if anyone knows if a six wt rod is suitable for light salt as well as the bass. I am using a seven wt at the moment but it is a slow actioned slightly too heavy rod and I am looking to buy a new one. I can cast about 70 feet on a good cast with this rod. Could I do better with a more responsive six wt? In Australia, in my home town, I chase GT's up to about four kg and Queenfish to about two kg and Australian bass to about one kg. there are also a lot of small tuna and spotted mackeral on the close reefs. could I stop a two kg tuna on a six wt? Any advise will be much appriciated thanks guys. ;D

Hello Jamky,
Welcome to Singapore and FFSg. Five to six wt is a good range for use both in fresh and saltwater here, unless you want to try out the mike-tyson-trained GTs. Then you will need a 9wt and above.
Enjoy your stay and hope to see you in coho and in one of our activities.
Cheers
Qwek
