I went fishing today with high hopes in catching my first milkfish on a fly... I caught this. It sucks because although its a really good fish and I know that a lot of anglers will turn green when they see this, ITS NOT THE FISH IM AFTER!. Another spotted grunt/croaker. fighting the fish The fish while it was rolling around the surface finally landed it and clamped on the boga Close up of the fly 5lb on the boga grip...not bad for fishing the shallows! That reel is around 4 inches, and it's tail isn't even fully extended! Seconds before the release... Victory pose in water that looks like milk...too bad. no milkfish today...the wind was howling like crazy!!! I caught the fish on the first cast. Just seconds after I stopped and decided to fish the spot. Tacklebloke's Queenie (he should be renamed the King of Queens! ) All fish were caught on the fly. flies used : crazy charlie white(queenfish) "charlie clouser" hybrid white wing with lime green dubbed body(grunter), Easy tie clouser minnow white(queenfish) Gear: I was fishing with a 17 foot sinking polyleader on 9wt fast sinking line Tacklebloke was fishing with an 8wt intermediate line with a super fast sink 9 foot poly leader *no fish were harmed in the making of this report.

Hi there, great catches! Mind if you can tell me if they were caught in Singapore? I will be heading over there in July/Aug and thought of bringing my flyrods along. Thanks. Clarence

Clarence Apologies and forgetting to mention that this is some remote locations on the middle east peninsula. It happen to be the wrong day to walk the flats. New moon are generally the best times. The water condition is usually alot better and clear then. It will be next week for better fly fishing. The picts taken are of a friend who landed the croaker. I only got afew other smaller fish, even the plentiful gar fish isn't interested in the fly. We came strictly for milkfish. Hope to land one of those rocket fish. cheers
