Due to my hectic weekends of fully booked charters, I have to take leaves on weekdays and join Elmo's in Malacca and KL of eating the glorious foods and shopping for our wives. When we were in KL, using our gps we manage to locate Tacklebox, but Nick, the boss was away on a fishing trip in Taman Negara. We managed to get a friend who brought our wives on a shopping spree while both of us tries to locate a place to ease our itch of flyfishing. We were recommended by Nick's son, Justin to go to a paypond which consist of two small lakes in Bukit Chahaya in Taman Permanian.
We managed to get there after getting lost many times despite using our gps and end up paying alot of tolls geting the right road to get there. Beleive me, the da##m roads are real confusing in KL.
But when we got there, it was worth everything. the place is beautiful, located in some nature reserved in Ayer Kunning.
The upper lake has alot of jelawats and some pacus white the lower lake has alot of large tomans and large pacus too.
Since we brought only 3wts tackes, we decided to stay on the upper lake. The friendly and helpful owner Nik Ramli prepare some of his secret caddies tied with mink furs and deer hairs.
and there are some of the fishes we caught!
The jelawat were quite easy to catch but the pacus were quite smart and difficult to catch.
They are much more spooky and always disappears whenever I wanted to cast for them.
Ater a few tries, I got out my baitcasting and lures out to cast the the distant I need.
After the first cast, I immediately got a hit and landed this fellow..
After landing this fella, I got another hit but this time it threw hook and got away.
The place is very relaxing, another nice thing is we dun have to run away from rangers.
Nik told us that I anyone want to fish there, let him noe in advance so he prepare some crickets and throw some to the fishes and they will in turn take on any flies.
All I know, that when I got back to Singapore, I put on 3kg in weight !;D
