Went on a boat trip just to fly fish the Golden Dorados.
Rod used: CTS Maxim 9wt fly rod (Could be a little light for this fish)
Reel: Lamson
Line: SA Saltwater floating taper 10wt..it is the wrong line to bring for a trip out by boat, it should be mostly sinking line about 500-550 grains
Fly pattern: Bait Fish pattern
So let the pictures speak for themselves to bring you thru the journey...
Fishing was a little hard, because the Dorados was deep. The rain has affected the salinity of the water. The surface is full of algae and the freshwater is on top. This has caused the Dorados not rising to the top always. But we use live bait teasers to bring them up. I took that opportunity to cast my bait fish fly onto them. Let's see what happens?
After the 3 casts, the fish is on! Peeling into backings in a matter of seconds
The Bull took me around the boat more than 3 times and still not giving up..... with my bloom stik fly rod
With the Bull subdued and a tired angler after 15 minutes of going around the boat
Baitfish fly upfront on its mouth of the Bull
Side view of Bull Dodo
My friend Patrick doing his thing with a live bait to get the Dorado to the surface, he hits one in a matter of seconds and I took so many cast when he pulls the following fish in
A sucker fish alot hits the baitfish pattern fly, probably a shark has pass by
Close up but missed the focus, but still able to make up, what a sucker! He took my fly and went back home
