Sup fellas, am new to this forum and new to flyfishing too. I am an avid fisherman, from offshore (if i have the chance) to surf to luring to pond fishing... etc. Almost anykind of fishing, its game on for me. Flyfishing is another thing that i would love to get involved in. The casting is elegant, and i understand the fish fighting is beyond words. Ohhh and i love the crack of the fly line (i think there is a proper word for flyline) when casting like a whip. haha.
Ok fellas, i am just trying my luck here, cos i think this forum's running a little too much cobwebs. Anyways, i hope some kind soul will recommend me a fly set that i can start with. Budget is approx. $500 (with all in of course.. including the lines, the reels, the rods, and hopefully a couple of flies too).
Went to Coho, was introduced a nice looking set of reel and rod. But honestly i have absolutely no idea what is what.
So if anyone can sit me down over coffee (on me of course), explain to me in details what fly fishing is all about, and maybe recommend me a set to start with, i'd be mighty grateful. But what i dun want is to start with an "amature" set and end up having to upgrade and upgrade. Maybe an average set might be just fine. Oh, and this will be mainly for targetting PBs and freshwater species.
Thanks yall and look forward to hearing from yall.

Hi flylice,
rgds to your flytackle search, u've hit the right tackle shop! CoHo Fishing Tackle... lots of friendly blokes there who u can chat up about flyfishing. They usually do some lawn casting at the field across the road, u can try that out too.
About fly fishing tackle setup, alas... its like the other fishing tackle, different setups & weight ratings... there's no "1" setup.. Its more like a golf club set... hahah..
chat up with the staff at CoHo for your fly fishing journey to start up ! With your budget of $500, look into TFO & Redington rods ... decent pricing with warranty.. cheers!
