Dear Fellow Flyfishers, I was on a vacation in Taiwan with my wife early April. We visited Neiwan a small Hakka town in Hsinchu County. Lo & Behold, we came across an old suspension bridge across the Youluo River, known as a favourite fishing spot in Taiwan (usually pole fishing). From some photos taken, I think it holds great potential as a fresh-water fly fishing destination. You can literally and safely track many miles up stream & down streams in pursuit of fishes. Taiwan is blessed with countless mountain streams and wide rivers, with clear, cool flowing water & numerous species of fresh-water fishes, all feeding on insects, small fishes, shrimps & crabs in their river system. Also, I found out there are a number of commercial pay ponds that offers small mouth bass fishing in Taoyuan county, that cost peanuts to fish for the whole day. Airfares on budget airlines, such as Jetstar, are relatively cheap, hotel accommodation is plentitful & inexpensive. Taiwan is famous for its cheap & good food of the hawker variety. So you can literally enjoy destination fishing for a few days without blowing a hole in your pocket, compared to all other destinations. I am looking for a partner to do some exploratory fly fishing for a few days in Taiwan on a cost-sharing basis. Any one out there game for this offer? I can be contacted at: alfredwong@pacific.net.sg Best regards to all' alfred [/img] [/img] [/img]
