Hi Guys,
Just before Chinese New Year, Qwek said "We're going up to Razak's place on the 15th Feb."
My eyes lit up as its been a very long time since I have fly fished in fresh water. And Razak's place bring back fond memories.
So on 15th Feb, 5 of us, Mah in his car, Gan, Qwek, Mat and myself drove up to Razak's place to fly fish for the weekend.
We had great time. Razak is a fantastic host. We caught tilipias, lampans, arauns and jelawats. Most of us are armed with light #3 - #4 outfits. The scenery there at the farm is amazing, we saw wild boars on the road, ducks on the ponds and a diverse species of birds with sea eagles soaring in the air looking for its next meal.
Here we are at the waterfall in the early morning ;D
The arauans made mincemeat out of the Varivas fly that I was using.
Razak's jelawats are beautiful in colour and very healthy ;D
They are good fighters and the larger specimens will test your lightweight fly tackle.
The lampans here are large, beautiful and plentiful. The lovely silvery sheen on the scales are a sight to behold
Quite a few of these patins was also caught.
The one specimen that was missing was the pacus. I brought along a #6 XTR to tango with them but we could not raise them up with the bread chumming.
So a big thank you to Mah for driving us up and the rest of the gang for a wonderful time of fishing and camaraderie. Razak, if you happen to come by and read this, a big thank you for showing us a wonderful time.
regards
Alberto
