G'day guys, went for a short getaway to Batam with the parents and also in search of any critters willing to take a fly or SPs... After dinner saw me strolling along a lagoon. Was told that there were some Tuskfish in there and I was there the next morning at 5 to chuck some baited breaths... In an hour or so, I brought up a couple of new species on fly (for me ) Spangled Emperor Fingermark Snapper And my biggest Crescent Perch to date As it got brighter, I 'hid' myself at a corner of the lagoon to cast some SPs... to my surprise, there were some other critters inside.... I hooked a small spangled emperor and what was about 8 to 10 cods came dashing out of their lair hoping to catch an easy breakfast... on the next cast, just as I closed the bail arm, the pumpkinseed bass minnow was whacked, the line was taken so fast that it snapped (i was using my bream gear ) Rigged up with new leader and all, and up came yet a few more new species for me on SP... Cods Coral Trout Black Spotted Tuskfish Another Tuskfish (Dont know its real name) The next morning saw me there with the fly rod... but only the cods were keen to play... landed 3 of em... All in all, a pretty enjoyable trip, giving me some consolation for missing the kingie run in Sydney...

That rod looks familiar, is it a Shimano Exage? Anyway, nice catch... you managed to get so many varieties in a lagoon?

Matt: It certainly brings back memories about the grouper hole, cept that the specimens are 'slightly' bigger heheh. True to our belief, the bigger Kelong Chi pulled like mad...
Sean: All the fish were caught in the same lagoon... the current outside the lagoon was madness.... even a 3 oz sinker cant anchor the line, perhaps that's why they're pretty happy in there whacking all the bait fish. Yup, that's a Shimano Exage... the folks at Shimano sent about 5 pcs to Coho and I was fortunate to receive one as a gift from a friend.

The spin stick's been like that for the past 4 yrs ;D But I did get rid of them today while out fishing... Francis advised me to remove them.
