Went freshwater luring somewhere at the eastern part of Singapore Island and caught this Peacock Bass... Hook was bent a little... Was using a Popper manufactured by River2sea... first time trying out that lure... Broke my 2 times old rod, 2 times old reel, 2 times old line, new lure virgin today... lol...
Reached spot at ard 6 in the morning and started casting the popper out... area was in complete darkness... having difficulties in seeing whether the lure was being clip on properly... cast and cast... no action... change to a few different lures including minnow and popper... no take... soon, the skies brighten... and ard three fly fishos came and started fishing... they caught a few... all released...
It took me ard 1hr just to get the fish to strike the popper... was trying different types of popping method to entice the fish to strike... finally... it STRIKE!!!... hook was set in its mouth... it rushes into the deep and manage to pull some line out of my reel... rod bent into a Horse Shoe pattern... without much hesitation, the fish was landed... using my thumb and fingers to grip on the mouth so as to make removing of hook easier... but it was too active to be holded... finally, after a photo taking session, the fish was release and packed my things and head on back...
Tackles used...
