Hi all,
It's been awhile since I caught something with fins on fly, so I 'recalled' the baitcaster for reservice.... heheh
Well, actually, the place where I caught these critters does not have room for back-casts.
The circled area is where I caught these guys.
During my undergrad days, this was the park that I went to for my first ever fly-casting practice... if Henry was there, I would've ended up in the water... heheh
The only thing I've ever caught were small tailors, which was why I frequented Double Bay instead. It was only recently that a friend landed 2 Breams on soft plastic that provided some motivation to give that spot another go. It was on an evening low tide when we got there... I ate a doughnut but my friend went on to land 6 flatheads.... The next day, I was in the city and bought 2 paks of Berkley Powerbait to experiment. They were some of the best smelling soft plastics I've come across... Dried Shrimp anyone?
That evening, we returned... after 10mins, something hit. It had some strength and I was hoping for a bream, but I got my first Silver Trevally instead...
But things got quiet after that. We continued casting along the bank when my friend hooked a flathead. I casted towards the same direction and was quickly onto one as well... this one came to about 40cm
I decided to keep it and left it on the grass... 3 casts later, I was onto another Flatty.... excellent stuff. Although they are not good fighters, but they are alot of fun. Unfortunately, this one threw the hook as I was about to land it.
It was then my friend lost his 4th jig-head that we decided to call it a day.
