Hello everybody, Just came back From KL. Some of my friends there introduced me to a new lure called Tassie Devil from Australia. It is a Hit there and seem to be very popular with the local fish there both Fresh water and Salt. There is also alot of discussion about it in the MFN forum. I have included some photos from the MFN Forum showing some of the Fish caught using the Tassie Devil below. Anyone here used it before. Any comments to share? Look forward to them Enjoy the photos

Hi, yes it is an effective lure! I used this in New Zealand and caught 9 good size rainbow trout in an hour besides losing a few lures and trouts.

Thanks JimboZ for your comments. Just received this photos from my friend Melvin in KL He caught it on a 13.5g Tassie Devil. According to him, Peacock Bass seem to be crazy about this lure.

Alberto,
I thought too myself when I saw this photo at MFN. That is not me but had tried the lure when I was in KL. Quite Good.
According to my friends, it is quite difficult to catch Soon Hock on lures though it has been done many times before. As I understand, the Tassie works well both on slow and fast retreive and Soon Hocks generally respond to Slower lures compared to other species. This Soon Hock I understand was caught in a pond which also has plenty of Peacock Bass. By adjusting the retreive rate, he targeted the slower acting Soon Hock instead of the faster Peacock Bass which respond to much faster retreive.
Cant seem to find any here in Singapore. Will try to get some when I go up to KL next week

I'm not too sure whether is it popular over here in Perth though coz I don't see any locals posting photos of fish caught on these little tassies. But I believe that this lure is rather good especially the way it swims, very graceful swimming motion and surprisingly, cast out very well!
But the metal leader that comes with it is not very strong and gives way easily, so it advisable to change to a stronger one on your own.
Some of the patterns can be quite a novelty too. I think mtshark have one with some funny words on the lure. Check you his blog too for a CR using tassies.

Hi Guys, I first came across the tasmanian devil in 1994, when i was holidaying in New Zealand. Got a few of them and distributed them to my kakis. Tried them out and they were highly effective with the tomans. Yes, as mentioned, the steel wire was'nt really durable, changing it to a thicker wire guage would do the trick. Also, clean the lure thoroughly after each trip to get rid of all "contaminants", as mine has disintegrated from lack of care. Otherwise, it is an effective lure against the tomans then. Cheers.

The tasamania Devils are really effective in my context.
The barramundis love them!
So far, I have only used them at night and I have caught many barramundis already at my 'office'.
I have not tried them in the day but hopefully soon.
;D
