hi all..i was browsing the net the other day and saw pictures of toman on fly..so i imitate the pattern but change the colour from orange to yellow.. however..this fly seems to float on the surface..have i used wrong material or tied wrongly..or it's supposed to float..anyway it looks like popper..the action quite new to fly fishing..so please advice..

Hello fishing_guy, The "Gartside Gurgler." is not a popper, and it is not a slider. but by simply cut off the collar and you have an instant slider. This fly was first tied by Jack Gartside. I used this fly with an intermiderate line, which will bring the fly just below the surface. But you used it floating line as well. i can't say it is a toman fly, for many of us have caught tomans on various patterns. Some even caught a kalui on this fly.
