Kalui (1), "Man, those pesky humans are making those flies so real. I am lucky to bail out in time this morning while searching for breakfast. It sure makes me think twice before hitting anything near the surface."
Kalui (2), "I know what you mean. See that hole in my lower lip? I thought it was a grasshopper, yummy... but it turned out to be my nightmare! Strangely, that human who caught me, helped me unhooked and released me... I am so confused."
Pacu, "Hey dudes, I agree with what you just mentioned. I was a victim this morning too but I was released... maybe we should just hit those flies hard and run harder. It is also a good exercise you know? Anyway, the humans would release us after the tug of war. I feel better and stronger than ever."
Kalui (1 & 2), "Siao, what if they plan to have you for dinner?!!?!!"
Pacu, "..... oh ya....."

Huns-san, Beautiful, very yummy too! Look like that wing material is very versatile too. I tied it without the additional wing back, but I spiral-wrapped the foam around the shank to allow the hopper to submerge just below the surface. I also dot the body to provide patterns and used a thinner rubber leg like this pix below; This pattern got a lot of fish to make an early dental appointment. Like this arrowana taken yesterday on a #00 with a foam hopper with 6lbs leader at... Not sure about the paku, have not caught one on the surface before. We are waiting for your return in July, then we can try out the kalui and the arro first. Cheers Qwek

Hey Qwek, That's an awesome catch you have there! Your hopper looks great, man. Think I will tye more Dry, Emerger & Terrestrial Flies for my coming home visit. Better stock up my ammo before I do battle at the fishing grounds. Now my Fly-Tying desk has become a mini photo studio, pose the flies on the clipper for photo shoot and blow it up on my Sony Vaio Lap-Top.......this is fun. Ya, I can't wait to get back and fly fish with you guys too, man. Lets make it a point to fly fish for those elusive species the next time round. Happy fishing....... ><))))*> J Huns.

Domo arigato Huns-sans,
That was probably the same chap that high-tailed out with a aerial display during our morning session.
Would be nice to see the setup of your tying bench, I won't be surprised that it is neat and orderly. ;D
Cheers Qwek

Hi Qwek and all, Here are the photos of my simple Fly Tying desk. You will notice that I do not have a table lamp as the window is on the left side of my desk. I prefer natural sunlight as I only tye during the day time...... not so damaging to my eyes. No, the vise is not facing the wrong direction...... it's just that I'm a Lefty. These are just some of my Whiting Capes and Saddles Hackle.......the rest are kept below the desk. As for the tying tools........ I'm crazy for them and I might change the cam jaw to the lever-operated system. If I want to photo shoot my flies, just fix the camera tripod infront of the desk and snap away.....that's where the white board(for background and lighting) comes into play. Hope this setup give you some ideas........ Huns.
