Hi folks, Here are some of my earlier attempts in flytying. In this thread are also flies tied with house hold materials, well not entirely with them but a combination. Please do comment on the flies shown here, do not hold back any punches. ;D SerendipityHook: Gamakasu #10(or equivalent light wire scud hook) Thread: Danville 6/0 Body: Danville 6/0 wrapped till the bend and coated with white nail polish, V-rib tied at the bend is wrapped forward as the nail polish is set or harden. Head: Spun deer hair, clipped to shape You can try using different nail polish colours and also V-rib matterial. In place of V-rib you can also use 20lbs mono. More to come.... Cheers Qwek

San Juan WormHook: Gamakasu #10(or equivalent light wire scud hook) Thread: Danville 6/0 Body: Danville 6/0 Red wrapped till the bend, Red V-rib tied at the bend is wrapped forward to the eye. Tail: Red marabou I also tied one with nail polish coated on the shank before wrapping the V-rib forward. I let the nail polish set about 90% before wrapping the V-rib, this will force the nail polish to squeeze thru the spiral wrapping of the V-rib creating another spiral line around the shank. This pacu was caught with this fly at Bob's Place, I had to wait for a long time for the fly to sink to the bottom. more to come... Cheers Qwek

Hi Alberto, Sorry for the late reply, been reading others' postings that I forgotten about mine. The copper wire is also used as the final wrap to secure the body, it can be used as additional weights but lead is much heavier. Copper is used for smaller flies, extensive used for copper is the Copper john pattern. Here a tip I came across when you are running out of copper wire: www.questoutdoors.net/skills/ftying/articles/copper-rib/copper-ribbing.htmlHope this helps. Cheers Qwek

Hi Alberto,
The closest substitute for V-rib is thick mono. But I saw some interesting material used for toys, will test it and post it later. As for the feathers, saw none but there is one that can be used for the patterns you are tying at 5 Dots yesterday. Check it out.
Cheers Qwek

I'm going to try and get Marc Brandt to buy and send me some from Europe. He tells me that he been doing fox hunting lately. Will ask him to keep the pelt for the hair if possible. ;D regards Alberto
