Hi all, I was just wondering if there is a need for us to use a wire bite tippet to catch Toman. My only experience with this fish is from the old days with a large hook and wire... and smelly chicken livers held to the hook with red thread......
Thanks

Hi, if you popper is big enough most likely you dun need any wire. However you can play safe and tie a very fine wire on it.

i would suggest you use a wire especially if your fly is not a popper... they tend to inhale and chew like no body's business... also if ur kinda slow at hook sets, its a useful insureance to have cuz if ur timing is a bit off and he swallows the fly, at least you wont loose the fly and the fish when he bites thru the wire leader. i use generally around 4 to 6 inches of wire... its more than enough...
