I am new to the Forum my name is David and my flyfishing is mainly done in the UK with various other attemps in Hong Kong the US. I am going to Sabah for December and intend to flyfish in the rivers. As this is completely new to me can anybody advise what fish (freshwater ) I can catch , what flies, and what kind of equipment i need to bring. Also if any of you are out this way I have access to excellent fishing in the UK. I am familiar with Borneo and the mailand as I had business with Sime Darby for around ten years. any help would be appreciated. D.Hochstetter

hi david (dhoch,) glad to know you have tried flyfishing in HK. am a resident in HK myself, formerly from the Lion city. have been flyfishing in HK for about a year mainly at reservoirs (more productive), some streams & rivers in the NT (quite OK) and paid-ponds (no too good). how was your experience in HK? are you residing in HK? There is a very small number of FFrs here, most people think we are in the wrong place with a silly way to fish. but I find it most relaxing & better form of fishing & exercise, rather than sit & wait for the fish, I pursue it! As for Sabah, go on to the "fishingkaki" forum (S'pore see www.fishingkaki.com/forum) and the flyfishing forum in KL, have seen many of their discussions on baitcasting & FFin Sabah. good luck cheers eric
