Hi there ShadowCaster, .........but we mustn't give the false idea to the authorities that flyfishing is not part of Sports fishing. Sportfishing as a whole, does include flyfishing and yes, we will convince the authorities that flyfishing is as safe as crossing the road or taking a bungee jump. Honestly speaking, if we want flyfishing to be permitted at the reservoirs....... that body of water has to be strictly designated for FISHING only on paddle boats. No canoing or paddle boat for non fishermen is allowed, just fishing. That way, you will not have nincompoops paddling, sneaking up our back trying to comprehend what you are doing! We will just have to take one step at a time and move on from there, but we must not loose focus what this forum section is all about...... Huns. Good point Huns, we should keep this in view for Phase 2! I'll be away for an overseas trip, no cell phone and no internet at where I'm going...............just lots of Salmon and giant Rainbow Trout, yahoo! Chat with you guys again in 2 weeks. Best Regards.

Why SFAS need to account to the public, make no sense because public are not the member.
Please don't compare SFAS to the nation it is rubbish because is a totally different organisation. The nation are suppose to account to the public because we pay tax.SFAS only need to account to the fellow member in the association, but not to the public.Example like Wushu Association Singapore, you think they need to account to the public for what they do.If good suggestion is being propose by the public we will listen, but to respond to the proposal is another issue.Normally is easy to suggest a lot!

Errr... it seems like you ppl are all talking about a cause for anglers..
What is this cause?- Does anyone want to elaborate?
Does this cause apply to all the anglers in general?
All I want to do is enjoy this hobby. Now after reading this post I have become confused. You mean to say that to fish is to stand for something or make a statement?
I think if this SFAS is doing something then it is anytime better than the individuals that do nothing. If many ppl think that they lack leadership then have them come in and contribute.
I feel that wat this SFAS has done so far is good enough as more areas are now open for fishing through their recomendation. But I pity them as well cos like all orgnz. They are always the ones getting bashed as there is often no one else to blame.

They are always the ones getting bashed as there is often no one else to blame.[/glow] Good point there. They are the only organisation in Singapore that is involved in Sports Fishing I think. At this moment, forummers here are offering feedbacks and ideas on how fishing in Singapore can be improve. There is a lot of passion in these people offering their comments. Some are more passionate and more outspoken and aggressive, some are compromising. But there is no bashing here. Maybe one or two comments that want to impose their ideas on how the SFAS should be managed and run. Jimmy Aw is trying his best to answer the forummers here on behalf of the SFAS with regards to policy and directions etc. If he detect any bashing of the SFAS, he would have objected. You have another line of defence in me. If I detect any bashing or flaming of any forummer, or organisation for that matter, I will delete the offending posts and ban that forummer. Some feedbacks and comments may bother you but not other forummers. Some may view it as stupid yet others beg to defer. This forum will accommodate all comments as long as they are relevant to fishing in Singapore. Especially Fly Fishing. Thank you for your concerns. Please keep the comments coming in. This forum and the SFAS need them to improve.

So this was the thread that brought about the White Paper Very interesting browsing indeed - J.Aw highlighting on National Security issues with fishing and Hun-san reflecting on a very fruitful "longkang" that became off-limits, following 9/11 And lots of mentions about flyfishing in here too but none in the White Paper - for the reasons on Page 3 ( suddenly.....I realised ;D ) Oh well, still wish you guys can work with and have the blessing of SFAS, though As the saying goes : ' united we stand, divided we fall '
