Do you think we can convince the PUB to let us have fly fishing in a boat at Kranji Reservoir on a trail basis of let say 6 months?
Why Kranji?
1. There are very few joggers there. 2. It is out of the way for a lot of people, hence less crowded. 3. It is not the destination of choice of family picnics etc, thence less children. 4. Row boat people gave Kranji a miss because of the ulu ulu and inconvenient location.
We can form a fly fishing club, get some boats and fly fish there.
We can then show how safe the sport is.
If we succeed, we can have Kranji as a fly fishing designated reservoir. Who knows, with able people lobbying and running the club, we can one day be fly fishing at the Reservoir in the City. Other reservoirs can be added to the list later when we can convinced and show "Zero" accidents in fly fishing.
Like this can dream or not?

Hi Billy,
I think its an excellent idea!!
It would surely benefits flyfishermen if that can be materialize.
But it won't be an easy job to convince the PUB or related authorities for the permision to do so.
cheers trouty

It sounds like a great idea!! But then its a bit hard to access esp for people who take public transport. Which why the row boat people rejected this place. And what they don't want we take for our fly fishing.

Dear Billy, I have some suggestions. LSR - dam side is a good place to start this activity too. There is a yatch club at near the other end of the pump station which I think canoes are available there. Not too sure who are the management though. Firstly, we need to get PUB approval to fly fish in this area (tough since it is a illegal ground), secondly we need to make friends with rowing club people so that we can rent their canoes and also promote fishing as well as rowing ;D ;D. It will be a win win situation I know it is very hard to acheive this but let keep on pressing for more ground for our passion.

After the White Papers are submitted, we can gauge the response. If everything is favourable. Then we can ask to permission to rent the boats for fishing.

Thanks for the mention, Highlander Oddly enuff, though boats for hire are readily available for flyfishing in the UK but when it comes to lurecasting - it's only permitted within a shorter period ( for piking only - with XXXXXL sized lures ;D ) Perhaps just push for boat Flyfishing as attraction to lurecaster taking up the sport Good for flyfishing - good for Coho too ;D
