This picture is really what we need in the Fly Fishing Community. Volunteers are urgently needed to educate the public on Fly Fishing and Sport Fishing. More matured volunteers are needed to educate more fishermen to accept the concept of Catch & Release. There is a back-cast room of 50 feet or more. The granite boundary is planted with some shrubs to act as a barrier to prevent people to get into the danger zone.

This concept map was on display too. When it is completed in 2008, the Marina Reservoir will have a catchment area reaching Ang Mo kio. We can also fish at Toa Payoh canal. So much more convenient. Fishing at our door steps. I mean if you stay at Toa Payoh, Ang Mo Kio, Geylang, Kallang, Tanjong Rhu etc etc. I took a special interest in the map because the Marina Barrage made the body of water(coloured blue) look like the vigina and falopian tubes of a woman's reproductive system. I am sure this is a good omen. Because a woman's reproductive system is symbolic for all the good thing related to this reservoir. The best is the Barrage closed off the vigina and there won't be any holes for people to penetrate. I predict we will have a very good fly fishing ground. No need to run from rangers.

Better view from this picture. Prosperous Reservoir. The Reservoir of Reproductitvity. Any women drinking from water from this reservoir will have a lot of children. We can bottle this water and export it too. People in the west can buy it, drink it and have a lot of children.

After Bedok, Pandan is next to be opened up.

Hence, they were not entirely comfortable to publicise fly fishing openly. SFAS agreed to that and that was the reason that a majority of the exhibits were lure fishing related. Fortunately, Mike from Coho had a stack of flyfishing stuff on display and that created some interest in the carnival yesterday. Nevertheless, I spoke to the Dy Director of PUB incharge of the reservoir yesterday, and he assured me that the fly fishing proposal will be looked into in details. So lets wait and see. One good news form this carnival is that it appears that there will be some headway in C&R.

The Straits Times - Monday November 7 2005 Page H3.
Quotes from the President of the Sport Fishing Association (Singapore), Mr CK Chin, said with the fun comes individual responsibility to keep the reservoir clean.
The association advocates "catch & release" where artificial bait is used so as not to contaminate the water and unbarbed hooks are used so minimal harm is done to the fish.
"If everyone takes home the fish he catches, there won't be any fish left before long. So we teach people to catch and put the fish back so others can also enjoy the sport." he said.

With Catch & Release adopted and recognised and enforced by PUB, maybe we can lobby for a place where we can fly fish safely.
I like to suggest Seven Trees as the first site. Only built low board walks like those at LP and MacRitchie.
No joggers, no baby strollers, no qigong aunty, no fishing family with aquarium nets, no dogs, no nosy parkers to complain.

Hi Alberto, I was assuming a low turn-out by the flyfisho' fratenity at the event - with last minute absence left and right ( instead of PUB and PUBlic looking left and right - to see flyfishos everywhere ) I was also assuming the weather had something to do with it ( an assumption from BT's photos - taken from under a ' shelter ', away from the flak...of rain ) But having just remembered that assumptions are the Father of all Cock-Ups ( by forgetting about me boy's birthday yesterday ) I suddenly realised I shouldn't be worked up by the things I see in cyberspace ( after cocking up my boy's birthday gift from me time wasting in cybersapce ) Your not making time to attend the event is understandable ( but my wasting time in cyberspace is unforgivable ) So forgive and forget what I said - and just hope that TY and BT has everybody's utmost support, in future ( considering that TY's spearheading this movement, at the risk of his profession ) So too, with me fingers crossed - I shall leave y'all now with the photo of my COCK UP Birthday Gift to me boy ( the outcome of my time wasting in this Forum ) ...Hope he'll catch a nice PAIR of those when he grows up ( elsewhere, if he still can't do it legally in S'pore )

FC, Alberto, my opinions. Cyberspace and this forum is just for us to pass(waste) our time when we are bored. Fly fishing is also what we do to when we have the time. I think nothing in this world is more important than our family. I think we should get our priorities correct. If not, the missus will give us hell. (Me, she will break my leg then my rods) All of us have our family commitments and work commitments. Some of us have to travel and the kids have to go to school. It is important that none of the forummers and the fly fishing community are made to feel obliged to help by sacrificing family time to turn up at Bedok. Please guys, the basis of support for the White Paper, and subsequently a Fly Fishing Club is volunteery. Those who can offer more time and effort can do so. If not, the fly fishing community should thank them just the same for making comments and giving feedbacks. Whatever it is, please do not jeopadise your family relationship, work and career and school for something which is a hobby. Take it as this - a hobby. Help and support only when you can. Only when you can spare the time. Only when the other more important things are done. Please. Oh FC............. I ban you from smoking when on cyberspace. ;D (Before your boss ban you) ;D
