Hi guys, This forum is getting rather quiet.. thought I might as well post some catch reports. Went to one of the local reseviours last weekend, equipped with my 4wt. Stopped by at one spot to do some short casts before we proceeded on to our final spot. Had no back space to cast hence did some pretty bad roll casts out, still managed a decent distance tho ;D The moment my fly hit the water on the final roll, I let my fly (woolly bugger look-a-like) sink a little into the weeds before stripping. First strip... then WHAM, a head dashed out from the weeds to grab my fly. Initial take was hard, and it jumped a couple of times. Thought it was a seburau at first, after pulling it closer, realised it was a.... peacock bass Proceeded on to final spot, saw lots of huge kalui but had no bread fly with me Kalui refused to take my dry flies or my froggy muddlers. Went back to the previous spot, landed another pb. Quite unsatisfied with my 4wt rod, very hard, almost unable to get line out on the backcast when doing a double haul. Anyway, catching fishes on home-made flies is really a nice experience.

hi nutter.. thanks for the comment. its a TFO lefty kreh finnese series, 8'9". somehow its very difficult to get my line out on the backcast with this rod. or when rollcasting, its quite hard to get the slack line out before the roll without pulling back the fly closer, if you get what i mean. may be a guide problem, or a line problem, or maybe its just me anyway, would have gotten a coho flycast, great rod, but tfo's lifetime warrenty bought me over

Hi, I am not too sure if I could help here but you could probably overline your rod to get the action that you might prefer. In addition, the new lines designed these days are usually 1/4 or 1/2 wt heavier to suit the stiffer rods. There are couple of them like the SA GPX or Rio Grande etc. I know there are friends who will usually overline their TFO and Sage rods. Btw, those fish you caught are really nice. I enjoy catching these on nymphs these days. Cheers!
