hi qwek, alberto and all flyers in the lion city,
had a great time coming home & the food......i stuffed myself. as always your generosity and hospitality were tremendous and must be returned!
learnt alot about casting too.. Qwek reminding me not to false cast too much - a very good point. backcasting once or twice sent my fly further.
fine tuning. as usual my bad habits drove henry bonkers. and as always his patience and tutoring is deeply appreciated. my casting with a 5 wt line and unweighted fly is now placed about 65-85 feet with much less effort. however a weighted fly still drives me nuts as my timing is still messed up by it's weight messing up the return.
you guys were very generous as always in giving me tips on colour and samples of your flies that work in s'pore. a flyer gave me one and that got me a pacu of 5kgs at pasir ris.
pasir ris was interesting as well. thinking there were only fries there, i began with a 3wt rod and a 2kg tippet, the first fish just tore it off. i then changed to a 6kg tippet, a 'monster' just dragged all my line to the other side and bit through the line. finally i used the unbelieveable - a 12kg tippet. this time the fish was landed but only after 25 minute on a 5wt st croix rod.
its a pity the spore govt is still not hooked on the idea of eco & fishing tourism, as the reservoirs and rivers are stuffed with fishes of all sizes. as always the itch was irresistable and it was off to sel... riv & res. the pbs were very obliging near the mrt bridge, and i saw a huge toman in the riv but could not get it to take the fly.
cheers flyers, will be back!!!
