Posted this CR awhile back on the other fishing website cos my broadband was not up yet (and I cant remember the URL of this one.... ;D) But here it is...
I decided to head out on a chilly winters morning - 12 Deg.... chilly by my standards. Bought a return train ticket and off I went. Had to walk about 1.5km from the train station to Double Bay (a more precise name would be blackburn cove). Upon arrival, I was greeted with the familiar blue sky and clear water.... all that was missing were the nude babes that would be suntanning if it was late spring or in summer.
I wanted to see if there were some flatheads lurking around the shallows so I walked further down to the light blue boat house (seen in the pic) as I dropped a nice one the other time because I was too lazy to sharpen the hook on my 'flathead thing'.
No luck there, so I ventured further further down.... waiting for the oysters to grow bigger....
Still no luck. So I decided to try for the small pinkies at the (nearest) stretch of beach (in the pic). Changed flies quite a few times (from charlies to ultra shrimps) and decided to tie on a MB Clouser.... cos I recalled seeing greenish looking baitfish swimming around in the adjacent bay....
The sky was getting dark (quite quickly in winter), and that means breams might be lurking around too... but it was getting colder and I dont intend to fish much longer....
The theory worked (i think)... there was a pretty decent hit and all I want was to land it... I finally saw LIFE! (although quite small ;D) And starting to regret not asking Uncle Boey for some more of those flies.... wahahahaha
Made a few more casts and I decided to call it a day.
Will be trying for flatties when spring comes around.... till next time.
