Hi folks,
Here what happened at the good doctor clinic, unforunately few pixs were taken the evening.
I drop my fly into the water and started to stripped out line. The next moment my line started to peel away at incredible speed and I went " AAAAGGGGRRRRHHHH! as the flyline cut into my palm and fingers.
The sound was PAIK! and line went limp.
At the other end, Huns rod did a swan dive and the line went ZZZZZZing! and on this side, the Poisonmaster started to whip the water into a freny.
Jimboz on the side wall, hooked up a triple tail SPLISHING and SPLASHING!
Alberto went ENMMMMM! and his rod went CRRRRAAAAACCCCKKKK! and the runaway train got away.
ZZZZIIINNNGGGG!
PPPPAAAAIIIIKKK!
SSSSSSSHHHHHHHITTTTTT!
@#$@&*@@#$#&
CRRRRRRRAAAAACCCCCKKKKKK! as Andy's 10wt formed another piece.
The PUMP! the PUMP!
Don't let him dive!
All in all, 40 plus fishes were hooked up and only a handful landed. Most of the trains or runaway trucks were the result of busted leader, straigthen hooks, broken hooks, broken rods, pumps, platforms. Whatever hooks or leaders used in the previous sessions were history, these bullies don't play by the rules, they play by the good doctor's Gospel music.
Broken rods: hundreds of dollars,
Broken hooks: fifty cents
Broken leader: 20 dollars, throw away the old one and buy a good one.
The pull of a runaway train at the end of our line: PRICELESS!
Until the next time, btw Eddie you're on.
Cheers Qwek

Alright, my turn to post some pics that were taken.. It was my first trip since my last dip at the pond.. so i was not expecting too much.. going home dry would have been good enough Thought this might be my last trip to the pond before i leave so i was quite determined to take some nice pictures.. Thank God for providing me the fishes to take them with As Albert said, this was the first fish caught that day on my second cast.. a 10kg bara.. Had trouble holding the fish.. first time i've ever caught a fish that i wasn't sure how to hold settled for 2 poses.. Didn't get a tarpon that day but i did get a beautiful redfish.. My first ever ;D I lost 2 GTs that were at least this size.. They totally wore me out.. casting actually became painfull near the end of the session thanks to these guys.. I like the pic though After this trip.. im sure i can squeeze in at least one more before i leave ;D Thanks for the invite Qwek.. Regards Matthew

I had her at the end of my line for a good half and hour and she wrapped the leader around a snag. I was so closed to cuddling her. What a misi. Well another time. Thanks to Alberto and Mattseah for taking the shots. What a workout! Great place to try out new stuff, like braided loop adn leader construction. Will try out the furled leader over there soon. Until next session. Anyone? Cheers Qwek

Come on guys... You call yourselves "SPORT" anglers...but half of you don't even know how to use a lip grip properly. So sad! Large fish should NOT be hung vertically as this can damage their internal organs. The lip grip should be used as a device to control the head and not as a lifting device.

Oya Como Va by neverenuff:
Oh my bad, is that what I had been doing all this while, sad indeed. Well, at last we have a true professional to teach us on how to partake in the revelry of sport angling. Can you teach us how to hold the fish for a Kodak moment? Without holding or touching the fish so as not to accidentally remove the mucus layer on the fish. I know we should all remove the hook while the fish is still in the water and of course you are right to tell us not to hook the fish in the first place. Hold it in the horizontal position, apply antibiotic to the injury from the hook, place it in a decompression chamber to restore its air bladder to equilibrium, and pay it's family compensation for pain and suffering during the whole encounter.
Or should we hold the fish up by tail? Or stick my finger up you know where so that it would stop struggling while Mr Eastman take a nice picture for me. I use a boga to stop the fish from doing a 360 adn run the hook onto my hand.
Hope that you be able to drop by and teach us the proper angling technics. Poor us fly-chuckers been doing it wrong all these years sharing what we know among us. Please show us the light O master so that I can share your fine technic with the rest of the brethens.
Sadly, the only sport fishing we know is to look left and right in between stripping and casting. We hope to develop eyes at the back of our head, not to jump on the sight of every blue and white. Run as fast as we can while reeling in the line while the rod tip is dancing dangerously close to planting the tip into ground. Leaping over railing in a single bound and developing spiderman senses to detect danger coming in by boat of blue and white. Now that what we call sport fishing - red dot style.

So very mature of you Qwek for coming up with such a lovely response. Good to know the real kind of person that you are.
Am I wrong in what I said in my last post? Maybe the tone I said it in was wrong...if so, my apologies.
Yes... my fault for assuming that fly fishers are the more "educated" group of sportsmen. If you know it's wrong and don't say anything about it, what does that make you?

If you know it's wrong and don't say anything about it, what does that make you? Hi nevernuff, Its not your fault for making any assumptions. What do a sad bunch fly fishermen know about anything, least of all using a complicated device like a lip grip. Such a simple device, so difficult to use and thouands use the lip in a similar wrong manner, the professional guides and anglers in every corner of the globe. So much better to grab them with our bare or gloved hand after the gaff have been driven into the body and hauled onto land. But as your nic suggest, its should be "neverenuff" to just shoot your mouth off, come by and teach us incompetent feathers chuckers how to use a lip grip. I'm sure your mouth would come in handy for us to practice on. Once were through, beer on me, Blue Jaz just round the corner from Coho were most of us meet. Alberto ps beer offer good to the end of the year, unless you decide to chicken out, then the hackle and saddle on you might look more attractive than your mouth. ;D
