Come on guys... You call yourselves "SPORT" anglers...but half of you don't even know how to use a lip grip properly. So sad! Large fish should NOT be hung vertically as this can damage their internal organs. The lip grip should be used as a device to control the head and not as a lifting device. Huh? Wonder why most lip grip has a weighing device when you are not suppose to hold it upright to weigh it? Maybe its for weighing just the fish head huh! I quess, you don't know what are you talking about, sorry for you.

Haha ;D One of the taglines for the FFF is educating thru fly fishing. I sure learnt a lot about some of you guys. Never once did I say DON'T USE A LIP GRIP... www.fishsponge.com/Tips%20-story-Lip%20Grip.htmBut then never mind...Thanks for confirming to me that you're just a bunch of arrogant HYPOCRITES.

So very mature of you Qwek for coming up with such a lovely response. Good to know the real kind of person that you are. Am I wrong in what I said in my last post? Maybe the tone I said it in was wrong...if so, my apologies. Yes... my fault for assuming that fly fishers are the more "educated" group of sportsmen. If you know it's wrong and don't say anything about it, what does that make you? Well, I'm real enough but I'm not sure about you. You seem to be an authority on flyfishing and fishermen. Your profiling of flyfishermen as "educated" put you as an elitist, are you not. Here we are just a bunch of fishermen whose once started with worm-on-the-hook simple setup and are still learning and enjoying the fun of flyfishing. We have not reach the stage of being a purist yet, we have been called snorts and arrogant HYPOCRITES but never a purist. Izaak Walton once wrote: " Angling may be said to be so like mathematics that is can never be learnt" (circa 1953) Over the causeway, you had shown your displeasure about using bread fly and "hong" fly too. So what is right and what is wrong? I'm sure flyfishermen both side of the causeway would benefit greatly from your teaching. You seem to be very experienced, many of us make mistakes over the year and we learnt from these mistakes. Sadly, some just take mistakes as experience and never learnt. Are you experienced? By the way that was by Jimi Hendricks (circa Woodstock). Is that what FFF and your master have taught you. Glad that we don't have and probably will not have that pleasure of such teaching. FFF to you too. Cheers Qwek ps. I fail to see the humour of quoting an article from a website that promote bait scent by some one condemning others about the use of bread and "hong" flies.

Taken from the Boga-grip official website.. www.bogagrips.com/weigh/weigh.htmlthe pics sure look like what we're doing... and to quote: Using your Boga-Grip Place the prongs around the tip of the fish's lower jawbone and release the trigger. This will close and lock the jaws. Now lift the fish and remove the hook. Lifting the Boga-Grip will use the weight of the fish to pull the prongs shut and locked even tighter. Unquote.. I would guess that the maufacturers would know how to use their own product.. Regards, Matthew

Hi neverenuff... If you don't lift the fish up vertical i don't know how in the heck are you supposed to get an accurate reading with the boga. I suggest that since you have such ingenious ideas... Why don't you invent a lip grip that weighs the fish at horizontal positions and have very accurate readings. Without such a thing called gravity... I don't think that's even realistically possible. So you may call us arrogant hypocrites or what ever ingenious and unique ideas you have... We don't give a SHIT! Why don't you show us some pics of how YOU use your lip grip to WEIGH the d**n fish you catch. Oh great master in lip and bullshit gripping... Teach us the "proper" method to boga the fish. Thank you very much - NOT! Sheesh...

Flame throwers have been deployed but seldom been used in this forum. If my memory serves me well, its only the 3rd time. When someone talks through their rear end and calls us arrogant hypocrites, then I reserve the right to defend. If you have nothing better to do, go back a couple of post to see how this started Everyone has their rights to their opinions and beliefs. There is a gentleman's way for presenting their views and opinion and a lively discussion or debate takes place. That is what a forum is for and all about. Even when schoolboy humor is employed and some "ribbing" takes place, everyone here on the forum will take it in their strides and no offense is taken. We know each other well enough and no one is a snob or elitist just because we hold a fly rod in our hands. In the meantime, please enjoy your time at the forum, your thoughts and view are always welcomed here. Excuse me while I instruct the weapons specialists to prime and target the ballistic missiles cheerio Alberto

hi nick, qwek, and alberto, have always enjoyed the conversation lines on the site. sometimes with great envy to see you guys backhome fishing both fresh & saltwater with the fly. Dr Edward's pond seem to be gem with monsters & runaway trains! The pictures as good as the ones in Fly Fishing and Fly Tying mag & FlyfishingInsider.com. Must try it, but mostly doing freshwater with the fly at the moment.
Flame on brothers, the coals are burning hot, The 'butt' is not a bother, skip the blooming sod! The beer's around the corner, Oi! for fly and the rod!
cheers eric

hi nick, qwek, and alberto, ... sometimes with great envy to see you guys backhome fishing both fresh & saltwater with the fly. Dr Edward's pond seem to be gem with monsters & runaway trains! cheers eric Eric, You must experience first hand, the brute power of a saltwater fish on a fly rod. I got bullied by them on the first couple of session at the pond. They have snapped 40lbs flouro leaders, busted the drag on my Charlton and broke the butt on my Orivs Zero Gravity. Key to success at the pond is to steer them away from the pumps, platforms and hiding places. The adrenlin rush you get from having one of these salty gangster at the end of your fly rod is out of this world. When do you want to sign on for an appointment with Dr Edward? regards Alberto
