locally you can use 4# to 5#. I am using 3# to 4# for the tarpons and ladyfish and its very fun.

Hi all, I'm new to the forum and fly fishing (well, at least the western style fly fishing. anyone here tried fishing for tamban and selar with a 20-hook line with yellow 'raffier' string flies ? )
Currently looking for a basic setup and based on the recommendations here am tending toward a 5wt rod for mainly beach and maybe some reservoir fishing.
Question I have is whether the 5wt can cast in the windier conditions we experience year end.
Any thoughts welcome.
