Hello Shi Fus out there... I'm looking a 4-5wt reel for both salt and freshwater applications... a good friend of mine mentioned that this reel is value for money...
Any reviews or comments on this reel? Will greatly appreciate any inputs!! Thanks!!
Cheers.

Hi Lance, I'm no sifu or master but a lowly grasshopper Here my 2 cents worth, the Battenkill LA is a good and reasonable cheap reel to use. My 3wt setups are couple with the LA 1 with spare spools, I used them in the recent trip to Maldives, so far no problem but then I haven't hook up a runaway train except for the herring at cakeshop. You may want to look at Orvis site for the detail of the reels: www.orvis.com/store/product_choice.asp?pf_id=01E1&dir_id=758&group_id=11804&cat_id=12021&subcat_id=12022At around S$260, it is a bargain. Go for it. Cheers Qwek

Hi Lance,
Don't mind if reply your pm here for the others' benefits.
You may want to check with Jimmy Aw of Zarach Supplies, he could be busy to response immediately due to his work loads. The other guy you can try is Se Wai, he may have a second hand reel for sales or you may want to ask him to order one for you.
I got my last 2 reels from US, one directly from Orvis and the other from a shop in the West Coast. The West Coast delivery is faster than Orvis which took 4 weeks to deliver. But both have different pricing, now if you have friends or relatives in the States it would save a bundle in freight charges.
The other person is Poisonmaster, ask him if he can get one from Japan, yes Japan. Not sure if it cheaper than from the US.
The closest Orvis retailer would be Tacklebox of KL. Let me know if you need his contact.
Hope these help.
Cheers Qwek
