Hi @ all from Germany !
This is my first post after dicovering this forum and i'm wondering again how popular bamboo is around the world !! great
My name is Ralf and i am a (still) 37 year's old rodmaker and cane - enthusiast from the western part of Germany. As well I'm a fan of Sea- (specially Seatrout in the Baltic-Sea) and Troutfishing in small creeks. Hope to learn here a lot about "Cane & southeast Asia" ;D

Dear Ralf, Welcome to our little bamboo section in our little forum . Always honored to have rodmakers visit us. Bamboo is very much alive and is gaining popularity as some of us discover the delights of cane rods as well as rediscover our traditional roots and our childhood fishing rods . Bamboo as a material represents the heart of the many asian cultures here ( Malay, Indian, Chinese etc.) and especially many of us in Singapore who are of Chinese origin. Another material is silk which is again part of Chinese culture. Finally we have another material for canerods which is rattan thats found in our forests.. so we are indeed the birthplace of cane rod materials ;D I saw your website which is german... Ruten means Rod right? Too bad I cant read the rest. Would love to see your rods which must be really impressive. Do post some pics when you have the time. Enjoy your time here and keep everyone informed if you should visit Singapore . Cheers CY

Hi CY Thanks for your kindly welcome ! In Germany the Winter and dark time is getting closer and i will use this time to make an english version of my page. Still a little patient ... You are absolute right - Ruten means Rods ! On this site there is a Table with the Rodnames. In the right Column is a Link called "Bilder" (Pictures) - there are the Pic's of the current Rods ! The latest both are actually in progress ... still no Pic's ! Best regards Ralf
