Hi guys,
please find below HK Fishing License regulations as set forth by the Water Authority for fishing in HK reservoirs. Hope this could be the basis for discussion to encourage Spore water Auhourity to open up more areas for fishing in Spore reservoirs.
Note: there is no restriction as to where one is allowed to fish in the reservoir, ie. as long as you are responsible for your own and other users' safety, you can fish anywhere!
Fishing is allowed from September 1st current year to March 31st following year. rest of the year is use for breeding and restocking of fish stock.
The money from the license is used to restock reservoirs.
Regulations 40-50 of the Waterworks Ordinance [Cap. 102] cover fishing in water forming part of the waterworks and the fishing license is issued under Regulation 42 is particularly drawn to the following:
1. The license holder is allowed to enter and remain in the reservoir area on the understanding that he/she does so entirely on his/her own risk. He/She must take the land with everything thereon as he/she finds it and shall not have or make any claims of damage or loss of property, personal injury or death against the Water authority howsoeversuch damage to or loss of property, personal injury or death may be occasioned.
2. The license is for the use of one rod and line only, and is not transferable.
3. The license must be produced on demand by a police officer or other authorised authority.
4. License shall not be issued to anyone under the age of thirteen.
5. The use of nets or any other appliances (apart from rod and line) or the use of explosive or toxic substance to catch or destroy fish is strictly prohibited.
6. The use of boats, dingies, rafts etc, for fishing is strictly prohibited.
7. All Black Bass under 300mm, all Snakeheads under 300mm, all other fish species under 180mm in length measured from tip of nose to fork of tail shall be immediately returned alive to the water.
8. Not more than 2 Black Bass 360mm or over and two Snakeheads 300mm or over and two number of each species 180mm or over in length for any other fish species shall be retained by any one angler in one day.
9. The license may later be revoked and replaced by another on different terms.
10. Please keep the license intact. No copy may be issued on any loss or damage.
