CR 20050609 This morning, I woke up pretty early and met up with Nick to go 'CLK' for some tarpon action. I had 4 'taps' and that's all. As for nick, he caught his number 97 tarpon!!! He was pretty far away from me and with my partial 'S' ankle, I cant reach him in a minute. For fear that the fish would die, Nick has been very decisive about the quick release so that the fish will not be 'shocked'. He cares more about the fish than to have a photoshoot. Well done Nick! After the early session, I was rushing off to meet Mr Cheok for some late morning freshwater action. Along the way, I see this very interesting.... err.... 'van'? You decide... Soon, I was wetting a line in my new found 'heaven' but Uncle Cheok chose to take a scroll instead and also, watched me fish. Suddenly, a man appeared right beside us and on his chest... we saw plenty of flies... "Sorry, paiseh, I did not get the name right so I am not going to guess and make a mistake. Sorry, will get from Billy again." Soon, Uncle Billy appeared too. All of us had fun... very dramatic but we all laughed over it at the lunch table. ;D Uncle Billy, are you going to spot check this Saturday? We were having fun with 'zebras' and some other 'specials'. I landed only one peacock bass today in about 30mins of fishing... Deep in my mind I was thinking, "Did they sense the shark is coming???" ;D Enjoy the pics.

The breakfast is nothing compared to those cheesy moments we had over the table. The laughter and fellowship, makes me long for more and I sure look forward to the next gathering. "My mama always say that Life is like a box of chocolates" There fill up the box but leave space in between, and your friends are like coffee filling up the spaces between the chocolates. It just goes to show you that no matter how full your life may seem, there's always room for a couple of cups of coffee with your friends. Welcome home my friend. Glad to know and fish with you. Cheers Qwek

CR 20050612 Woke up very early in the morning, as usual, my fishing partner - nymph and I would be going fishing again. Today, we had somethingelse in our mind though. Today, we had a friend with us, kokliang. Hey An Ren, he is the one who wanted to sell away his TFO 4wt combo. His TFO 4wt 's handlle is still wrapped!!! I have bad news and good news. The bad news is, kokliang is not going to sell his fly rod and reel away anymore. The good news is... he is another convert!!! A flyfisherman convert!!! Nymph and I posioned him badly... kekekekekekeke... We had a good day and we really enjoyed the fellowship and of course, the fishing too. I hope you guys and gals would enjoy the pics below. Oh yes, I caught my cocky peacock bass today!!! So heng sia... heehee. ;D Dont forget to check out nymph's thread too... I have decided to call him 'kalui king'... I think you all know why. I had countless fun with the above and lots of zebras too. These fellows fought hard and sometimes harder than we expect from such a small size fish. Peacock basses also provided excellent workout for me and the rest of us in the morning too. Check out the cocky one below. It actually took out 50ft of line from my Abel TR Light... a tough fighter. Below, are the rest of my catches for the day. For a total of 17 fish that made my day extremely enjoyable and the friendship and laughter at its best too!!! The above koi made an spectacular run on my 'zero' and I got line burnt on my right hand's middle finger... Dry fly fishing at its best!!! To make the day even better, we went to West Coast Park and we visited the Marsh Garden. We did flycasting practise in the field and kokliang gets his first casting lesson. After having some correction here and there, kokliang turned to the dark side and gladly joins the rest of us as a Jedi. The above is one of kokliang's catches on a bread fly. He caught numerous peacock basses and he sure is very happy. He wears his grin all day long! Well done and welcome to the dark side new Jedi... hahahahaha ;D

Say, those Carps which Nymph and you landed....... they sure look very familiar to me........ is there by any chance they're from "November Papa". I recognize the cream color Koi with the half -cut tailfin.

Regarding the kois and carps, they actually belong to different places. The half-cut tailfin koi is a common sight among us now and I guess alot of people actually know where. Although we have a few pieces of them, but they do not belong to the same fishing hole altogether. We have discovered places where kois are smarter than we think and they fight even harder than I could imagine. I under-estimated them and thus resulting a line-burnt finger. Ouch! Let's get together when you are back. Before that, I must go spread around in the water world that Hun's is coming back with his beautiful flies. Tell them that they have to watch out for such flies... but you know, fish has small brain... I bet they couldnt resist your flies after tomorrow. LOL See you soon! *grins*

Hi Wei, Studies is indeed important, but do not forget to spare a little time out for yourself to do the things that you really like to do. I hope you are still tying your flies at home. Dont forget your passion. By the way, I have not stopped searching a rod for you and you know what? Soon, I will call you about a rod that you could afford and one that you would really like. I tested a similar model and and I am telling you, it is wonderful!!! Get ready to be a jedi soon. My ankle is still about 75% and thus sitting down to fish is pure enjoyment for me! My dear friend kokliang even took a video for me... I watched it a few times... lol. First time looking at myself fighting a fish... so funny.

CR 20050617 Today, Nick and I set out for fishing after the heavy down pour in the east. We werent expecting much as the weather lately is a bit 'siaosiao'. Yesterdays, it was so hot and the fish seemed to be hiding from the heat and I actually 'blanked'. I did have a few takes but all just didnt hook up... a zero is a zero... no other way around it... Upon reaching our waterhole... Nick and I had hookups straightaway!!! My wooly bugger was hit by a decent bugger and just after I striked, the 6lbs tippet burst like thread. It wasnt the force of it first run but something cut off the 6lbs tippet as I didnt feel much resistance and yet the tippet burst... Nick was yelling, "Teo liao! Teo liao!!!" I saw his Qwek's tied hopper disappeared into the mouth of another pacu and then see the fly line zipping into the overhangs along the banks. "Siao liao siao liao!!!" I thought. LOL ;D Nick was very lucky as the fly line actually got caught in the overhangs but somehow, the pacu decided to let Nick enjoyed its power... the pacu cleared the snags and Nick found him for a good 0mins. Nick tried to pull him in a few times and everytime, it just went away with another powerful burst after another. The battle ended shortly as the 8lbs tippet proofed to be too easy for the pacu to burst with a slight nibble. Not much resistance was felt by Nick too when the tippet burst... it was like thread. Thereafter, we had our consolation. Nick hooked up a super cutey!!! A pinky!!! See? So cute!!! Next was me, I landed my first ever pinky finally!!! I thank God for this man!!! The kalui actually took my caddis GT and submerged. Then it spit out the fly and stared at it for another moment. My heart was racing away when it spit out the fly... I could almost feel that tears were rolling down my face... (kidding lah - I am not cry baby.. lol) Suddenly, the temptation proofed too big for the kalui to handle and the fly just disappeared within a blink of the eyes. The fly disappeared and fish on!!! I felt so contended after I landed this fellow after some enduring moments. I was afraid that my 6lbs would give way like just now but this time, I was blessed. My first kalui on caddis GT. After I released this beautiful fish, I went through my items and made sure that I had everything with me before I looked for another target. Just as I was looking for something near the surface... I saw the same pinky that I just released came up to feed again! Err... no lah. I thought it isnt nice to aim for him and again... I walked off. I recognised him by that cocky head, it sticks out like a sore thumb when in the water. When on land, that thing actually became smaller.... hmmm.... dont know why... Flyer, our dear flyboy, I need more caddis GT from you now... bring some for me hor... ;D Below are some other catches on the same fly, caddis GT.
