CR 20050720 Fly line terror!!! Never get to engross watching the fish looking at your dry fly 30ft away when this little terror could be snapping up your fly line right in your nose! It happened to me and I lost about 6ft of fly line right in the front last month...

Walau! for awhile I tot you caught the cockys on pole rod? I think it will be more fun if you catch them on fly. Yesterday and today the cockys are real frenzy. Yesterday the 4 of us caught at least 25 fishes each in one hour. Today about 16 - 18 fishes each. I think must have a good time the nite before and the next morning all hungry! ;D

Flies were employed initially, then the flies seemed to lost it flavor and thus the lures came in as we could see many of those biggies around but they cant seem to be bothered by the flies at all. Swapping flies at first but still not doing any good. So we took out our other arsenal, bc sticks and lures. The fish immediately got into a frenzy again! That day, we really lost count of the number of fish landed and I didnt 'snap' them all. Only those with 'cocky head' and relevantly big ones are 'shot'. The flies only got us those juveniles not bigger than 2lbs. I will be back there soon. Stay tuned!

Mts, I have this urge to dig out my old ultra light spinning outfits and have a go at spinning big flies. I have this 5.5' Heartland Z called the Pin Point Special rated for 3-4lbs mono. It should be a blast on those bigger PBs.
regards Alberto

It should be a blast on those bigger PBs. regards Alberto Hi Uncle Albert, Since I have started on flyfishing in 1999, I still do play with my spinning reels and baitcasters once in a while. I remember 2 months ago I took out my dust embedded stella to fish Pasir Ris Pro Pond, I striked with my left arm swinging backwards... Suddenly so many pair of eyes were focusing on me... I wish I could just dig a hole immediately and hide from those 'stares'. I was so embarrassed... LOL Lately, my dear friend nymph (David Neo), allows me to leave my tackle in his van and thus I have a wider arsenal of tackles out in every water we go together. Most of the time, we start off with flyfishing. When the actions die down and especially when the fish 'learnt' their past 'lessons' well, we have to think of other things. The spinning rods and baitcasting rods immediately come into the picture and there, we get more fish with them around when the fish 'sibei sek liao'. Sometimes, flies are so effective and we would carry on with our 'passion'. When every single flies in your fly box do not have the magic to hit those 'following' peacock basses, it is time to swap tackle. Even lures have such encounters too. Then I swap to big poppers, fish-on!!! To have fly rods and spining/baitcasting rods for every fishing trips, it is luxury! All thanks to Neo. Dont forego your other 'lovers'.
