Dear CY, Would it be stating the obvious that Winston's boos have an aura of Glen's heritage in them? BTW... I slid down the slippery bamboo slope yesterday regards Alberto

Oh I forgot............. someone's selling a South Bend at FishingKaki. If you can get the price down, I think you can try it.

Fisho, ;D ;D...since you have forgiven me................................. that was the most stoopid answer to my equally stoopid question and I unofficially invite you to the singapore boo boys brotherhoot;D ;D... you have proven to be fish brained to match bamboo limbs..wahahahaha! Alberto, no wonder I heard a plop that sounded like it came from the boo pit ( outhouse) ;D ;D... velacom velacom! That South Bend sounds nice! Like BT said, you'll be in the loop for boo sessions Now back to my stoopid Winston question... give me $$ and I'll tell you! Nolah just kidding, I guess alberto made a good educated guess since the graphites are designed by someone else though they must have been approved by Glenn. I actually think that IF Glenn wanted graphite, he would have used a Winston graphite Billy was collateral damage of my clumsiness with the boo froe ( ie cleaver) :-[Hoot hoot ;D... Uncle officially declared me a dangerous boo guy.. causing mental, financial and physical damage ;D... One interesting point Billy brought up at the booshop last weekend, he asked 'who poisoned who?' Both uncle and I looked at each other's manic eyes, at the boo stuff, at our cut-up hands and laughed our guts out! ;D ;D Ok, after reading this alberto, you still wanna join? ;D Cheers CY

Winston graphite rod ..different from a Winston boo?... 1 - W graphite rod use graphite & W boo use bamboo lo.. 2 - W graphite rods are hollow circular x-section.. W boo currently comes in penta or Hexa solid x-sections.. (anyone has a penta for casting session..?? shadowc..??) er..hmm.. seriously folks pt 1 - is about the different materials which makes up the rod. The different fibres in the boo to the protective hard skin compared to the diff' blends of graphhite, boron, resins make different charactered rods. pt 2 - the different x-section & shapes, hollow or solid boo rods contribute to the stiffness will give different rod actions.. i guess, like wines from different harvest.. same boo (tokin?), different growth period, age, cure should also contribute to the final rod actions even if 2 were built to the same length & taper.. psst.. admin boss, redeemed meself? spare the cleaver.. ;D ... me still shoUtiNg..!!..who's got a penta for casting appreciation..?!!??! alberto.. see lah, mix with "zhu-pan-gou-you".. slipped u into the abyss.. ;D ;D.. guess who sent the sms about the southbend.. tek-ko..tek-ko..

Ok, after reading this alberto, you still wanna join? ;D Cheers CY Hi CY, No choice - kenna push into the Boo Pit head first But then again, that South Bend Boo is a monster of a rod. 9' 3pc that is suppose to cast a #7WF or #6DT line With the reel attached, it weighs like a ton of bricks. I tried casting it last night with a #6WF line and it was not that much fun lei. Maybe it was too dark and could not see what was really going on so I have to tried it again this weekend or tomorrow evening I can onli hope that the slope it not going to get too slippery... regards Alberto ps Jimboz - thanks for the push ;D

Hoping to give you some feedback... looks like you've already started testing it in the dark ;D Anyway 9ft cane rods are on the heavy side and should be used with heavier line. I'm not much into long cane rods but I have casted two 9' grangers ( 1 belonging to uncle wong) and I'd say they are an acquired taste. You need to find the pace of the rod.. just relax and let the line unroll. I could probably eat a steak waiting for the line to unroll! ;D ;D That said, long/heavy rods make very good bass bug rods and roll casts beautifully. You should always try the rod and decide whether it is for you. Sell it quickly if it isn't. You should also try the shorter hollowbuilt rods and quad rods to know that they are not necessarily heavy and slow. My preference nowadays is for rods not exceeding 8' up to 5wt. Anything above 5wt should be hollow-built. Another favourite is 7.5' 4wt rods. Will certainly bring the rods mentioned above in the next boo session so that you know what I mean. Cheers CY
