Hi all the boo experts, Need your expertise to help solve a problem on my 4wt mei mei. The male ferrule on both the tips are very tight to fit in. What is the best method to slove this problem. Can use finest sand paper? Appreciate your advice. thanks TYS Hi IMX..!! its about time u bring Ms Zhu out of the closet! imx - i suggest u bring the rod to the bootchers to access what can be done.. i won't suggest going with the sandpaper as first option cos' the plating of the ferrule will be compromised. reminder - do not twist the rod to dis-join the boo rod sections, it may damage the boo fibres, boo joints.. ========= ..AL - here's your next stop, contact IMX, BT about Ms Zhu.. CY, BT, IMX.. can start a review thread on Ms Zhu for us to drool.. bOo..!

Wahahaha! Al, for a God loving man you are quite radical! Nothin wrong with that, being men, we all love Gods creations especially the feminine ones ;D Sorry for not replying immediately IMX, I wanted the expert boo makers and restorers like TY to reply first before I chime in. First, forget about Al's KY suggestion or any use of oil ;D ;D. We are talking about metal here . Most ferrules are hard to insert due to corrosion. Clean the male with alcohol, rub a few times with 0000 steel wool, clean again and clean the female ferrule with cotton bud dipped in alcohol and insert. If this doesn't work, the male may probably have very little 'play' at the tip edge. This means that if we do not insert it straight, it would seem the male ferrule is too large. The trick here is to reduce the sharp corner by very little either by sanding or filing. If your male goes in easily but the problem is pushing it further down, then, you need to file/sand down the male very carefully. Use a fine file or sand paper on a flat block and place FLAT against the male ferrule, then either roll the rod on your thigh or use a lathe to turn the rod. Clean and check the fit very often. Never file down too much! The fit is consider good if it goes down smoothly and gives a pop when removed. Good luck! Cheers CY
