This morning, Harvey, Alberto, Melvin, Reuben , his wife Alice and myself set out for the new playground to try out some saltwater poison. Harvey caught the first GT but lost it, then its was Reuben turn as it gave him a sudden adrenalin rush that turned to awe of disappointment, and a broken heart, as his brand new 8wt rod broke at the butt. I cannot forget his look while I was fishing on the opposite side. As he looked at me and said, "My rod broke!" I could his his face was so long that it could touch the water! It was his first fish on his brand new rod and ....sigh! However each of us had our fair share of poison. Everyone of us lost fishes. My first hook up, made a sudden rush that my leader broke. And here are the actions pics that Alice took for us. This was my second hook up and landed this Banded Trevally after 15mins of fight on my Rplxi. Next was Melvin caught this over 5kg barra. He caught 3 barra but only manage to land tis one. Sad to say he also caught a GT which made Mel to loose about 30ft of flyline by running into the pump shaft. Harvey too lost a couple of GT but only manage to land this nice Batfish wif a someone else black zonker fly still attached to it. Lastly Alberto also had his fair share of hookup but did not manage to land any. Not so bad a start of a new year huh? Well I think we will go back and have our revenge another day! ;D

hmmh.... you better get poisoned before the fishes there get too smart and won't get easily tricked into taking any flies. or having their lips full of accessories.

Hi Guys, weather was not on our side, water a bit too cold, so the fishes are a bit "sleepy" ;D Good to see all of you in action. Yup, Reuben really had a shock when his rod broke at the butt. He could not believe it. He lost a big GT Billy, dun pop too many pills, be careful of over dosing ;D best way to cure it is to attend the next session at the the playground. Good place to hone your skills, the fishes there fight really hard. Maybe try the evening session the next time. ;D

Hey Guys, That's it! I am taking the next flight out of Japan and back to SIN! ;D What a way to start a new year! Golden Trevally, Barra, Batfish and what have you in that pond!! With broken rod and fly lines, it is a good sign to get new rods and fly lines for this new year! Ya Guys, go on ............ whack the hell out of those fishes........ while I sit here shivering in the cold. Kudos to the pond owner! I will be back......... Huns.

Hi Huns, ;D ;D yes please take the next flight back to SIN. Those "gangsters" of the pond are waiting for you ;D You must have a go at the pond when you are back again. Yes, you need pretty tough tackle to challenge these brutes. A bit different from the finesse fishing that you been doing with your trusted 2 wt outfit

Hi Fred, Arhhh, gees.............. I am on the waiting list ...... sigh....... and the list is pretty looong! Don't look too good for me......... chances are slim for me to get a flight out this month. So, the "Gangsters" are terrorizing in the pond huh?! Well, just wait till the Yakuza/Mafioso come and show them who's the boss! ;D ;D ;D Ya, time to use the heavier arsenals for these rascals and judging from the photos, the pond do have many underwater obstacles for the rascals to fight dirty! This will definitely make a good training playground for those fly fishermen who's heading for saltwater flyfishing overseas. Huns.

Its abit tiring and stressed when you get a trevally, unlike the open sea, you still can let the drag of your reel to run out abit. But here its different, as it's a small pond and obstacles is everywhere around you and you really have to hang on to the flyline without letting it go to much! Damm, its really a challenging experience! . The only setback is hope that the owner will not increase their charges. ;D

Oops Huns, hope you can get a seat back and show the "gangster" what the Yazuka is all about ;D ;D Yes indeed there is many obstacles that made fishing for the "gangsters" very challenging. It is a good training ground to test your terminal tackle, your rod (sorry Reuben that your rod failed on you), fighting skills. I learnt alot from experience fisho like YH and also learn to trust my outfit. Really put the rod to the max. in order to stop them. (but still lost many of them). This is a good experience for fishos who will be battling the "gangsters" in the flats of Maldives. ;D

Hi Jim,
There will be a slight increase since the promo period is over. However, I think the owner Eduard is not really out to make big money. If he does, he can just open it up for all and fish every single hour. The fact he tried to keep the fishes in prime fighting condition is commendable. I do agree after a while the fishes will be "smart" to recognise what is a deceiver, pink thing ;D ;D that is why he need your support to change the fishes every 3 months. Once you have new fishes in again, we will have fun. If you are interested to do another session and need his contact, just PM me.

Hi Alberto, I have fifteen days of the Lunar Chinese New Year to "Lou Hei" with you and gang! Now, I have only 25 days to do magic......... for a flight ticket back! Hi Jimmy and Fred, I know what you mean by trusting your fly outfit. I have landed a Sailfish(24kg) with my 12wt outfit and really put the tackle to the max........... it's amazing how the rod and reel take the tough punishment. I think this kind of pond flyfishing is equivalent to stand-up street fighting! One on one....... until the other give way. May the force be with the fishes in the pond! Huns.
