An Ren, you will have your chance, you can join Quek for their next session and have a feel of those "thugs" there. So far, we have lost countless flies, handful of lines and couple of broken rods. Nick, though the GTs you caught are not the bigger ones there, but all of us know that landing them is never an easy feat. Well done!! They really fight dirty and be warn that those "toshibas" aka batfish fight hard too and also dirty ;D

hello all! I'm new to fly fishing as a whole..But this thread got me pretty curious..Hehe. Where is this place exactly? Or is it a sort of 'restricted' place? Charges? Sorry to lower the boom questions-wise, but there's just so much I don't know about this.

Hello benwen11, Below is a posting by snakeriver, (Fred I hope you don't mind for the broadcast since the place had gone public). Hi fellow fly fishos, Have a chat with Eduard, the owner for the GT pond and there is some changes which personally I think it is good for us. Importantly is that wef from today, 20th Feb, anyone who wish to fish from 5pm (weekdays except Tuesday) can contact him directly at this number 91892277. There is no need to have 5 guys to book the pond. Please call him first just in case that the pond is booked for private session. The house rules still apply and the charges is SGD30.00/hour and SGD50.00 for 2hours. Secondly, he will help to "chum" the fish to feed when the action dies down so that everyone can have a piece of the action. Lastly, witness myself that he feed the batfish with bread and even the goldies eat the bread. So it is time to get the bread flies out, he will help to chum so that you can have a go at the batfish or goldies. If you guys need to find out more, just give him a ring. Don't need to go through me, I am not the agent ;D ;D Just hoping that every fly fisho has a chance to tussel with a GT, goldie and honing their skills. It will help when you go fishing in Maldives or Australia. Fred Thanks for the updates Fred. Now I must make a trip to Artfriend for the chum flies. Cheers Qwek

no worreis Qwek,
The next time you are there, be the first to cast the bread fly and see what appear below to take a look, very exciting. I am trying to land one batfish on it. Problem is that the goldie or GT will beat them to it first ;D

Thanks a lot Qwek! Wow..Can't wait to get down there.=p Any recommendations for tackle size-wise? I'm kinda hoping my 6wt outfit will be enough. haha if not, time to break out the ol' card again... whoops..*slap in the face* looked thru the thread and saw that even 8 wts are quite insufficient. whoa...

Hi Ben, you will need at least 8wt to 9wt tackle wif 40lbs tippet and barbless hook fly. And the rest depends on your luck! ;D

Hi folks, Last friday, I gate-crashed Subaru's morning session to test a secret fly. I was surprised to meet Mah and Gan there as well. Jimmy and the gang was there with their wives and the ladies were hauling fishes like there no tomorrow. Chris landed a few GT so did the other. Fish On! Here her catch, the fish was CNR but not the other standing next to her. What a prize catch! Here another lady flyfisho with a banded trevally. One of Jimmy's kaki with a Speckled Snapper. I had tied a pattern that resemble the chums that the good doctor had been feeding the GTs in the pond. The flies were tied in 3 colours and only the red worked. The trick is to let the fly slapped the surface and then immediately lift it out of the water. I had 2 broken flyline/leader connections, 2 straightened hooks, several broken tippets. None of the GTs were landed. Mah, using the same fly also had 2 hooks opened. I only managed to land a Triple Tail on a Tarpon fly. Triple Tail with Tarpon fly. Will be back with more flies, this time tied on stronger hooks! Cheers Qwek
