Hi Guys, Last Sat, 5 of us - Q, Huns, Nic, Andy and moi made an appointment with Edward for treatment at his pond. It was an extremely poisionous session for everyone ;D Here are some of the highlights Double hookups and even triple hooksup was common during the early part of the session... ... and the GTs was coming in thick and furious. Everyone has their fair share of hookups. The champion has to be Nic for landing at least 5 GTs and a tripletail. For myself, I finally landed my first GT after 5 visit for treatment. The first hookup of the day broke my butt leader loop, the second took the entire rig of leader, tippet and fly. My third swallowed the fly too deep and Edward advised not to take the fish out for a photo. I finally experienced the butal power of these bullies in the pond Misi misi, when is the next available opening huh... regards Alberto

Conquerer? Nah... Just got really lucky on this trip. The conquerer i would say is Master Qwek who found out the powerfly which i used. A BIG Kudos to Qwek! Thanks a million for the fly!

Hi Nick,
I think it more the fisherman than the tier. I was using the same fly too. ;D I got bullied by them, gone twinkletoe on them and lost all 4 fishes. Huns noticed that I didn't jammed them when I got a fish on. Neverimind, next round I'll make sure that I'll max out the rod.
Well done Nick. Next time I'll charge you for the fly too! ;D
Cheers Qwek

Thanks for the intro Jimboz !
I look forward to meeting some of you fellas next week at the playground.
I don't know the distribution of those Blue Eyed Cod but the one in the photo is the most recent and the smallest I've caught. They are a deep sea fish and that one was caught in 1500 ft [250 fathoms] of water 45 klms off the coast of Sydney at a reef called Brown's Mountain.

Come to think of it, it must be tiring reeling in even if you didn''t catch anything!

We use 3 kilo sinkers and it takes about 15 minutes to wind in without a fish on - two or three times and you need a rest.

zzzzzzzz........ George ! i think this kind of fishing wif 3kg sinkers i rather catch small peacock bass wif 0wt fly tackles. ;D ;D ;D it will be like fishing wif crane, lifting dead wt.

Exactly Jimboz! Weather and sea conditions are only good enough to get out there maybe 8 or 9 times a year in a 6 metre boat! We don't go out there specifically to drop sinkers over the side - depending on the season we normally troll for Marlin or Yellowfin in the general area.
Knowing there are good fish on the bottom, we take the opportunity to catch a feed of arguably the best tasting fish in the southern oceans.
